Got a minute? Major League Baseball sportscaster Joe Buck talks about the upcoming season, working alongside his legendary father Jack, and why no one really cares what he has to say.

Q: What do you think this season has in store?

A: This will finally be the year of the Cubs. They've gone their full century—they haven't won since 1908—and are working on their second. They've got good pitching, a good lineup. If they can get over the curse, then I think they will finally win it.

Q: What was it like to call for the Cardinals with your dad?

A: It was a little awkward at first, because I didn't know what to call him on the air. Should I call him Dad or Jack? I just avoided the topic altogether. I look back on those seasons as the most fun in my career.

Q: Why is everyone so hard on Bud Selig?

A: I certainly don't fault Selig. He is running a multi-billion-dollar corporation and, for the most part, has been successful—revenues are up, and attendance is up. It's gonna be an interesting year, here in '09, to see the attendance figures as the economy hits professional sports.

Q: But what about the steroids?

A: It is na├»ve at best to pin that on Bud Selig. That's something that has been evolving over the years. And the players have more blame in that than the commissioner, for sure. This is more than a baseball issue. Baseball is always the sport that takes the fall for this, because people hold it to a higher standard. That's a compliment to baseball, but—if there is no testing—who knows the depth of this problem across sports?

Q: Did it blow your mind to become a part of the Clinton impeachment proceedings when your broadcast was picked up on the Linda Tripp–Monica Lewinsky tapes?

A: It blew my mind that Linda Tripp was watching an MLB play-off game. It's also a lesson, I think, that all of us announcers should realize—that nobody's really listening or cares what we say. That was background, basically elevator music to her. Vanessa Rothschild
