A sort of pulp Pale Fire, this hilarious novel takes the form of a mock encyclopedia devoted to a crackpot metaphysical sci-fi hack named Phoebus K. Dank, as written by two unreliable collaboratorsone of whom appears to have killed their subject. It's deranged metafiction at its most entertaining. Timothy Hodler
