THE DEBUT: Maison Martin Margiela Home
Belgian fashion mastermind Martin Margiela is no stranger to optical illusions: In recent years, he's designed T-shirts printed with graphic cameras and jackets that look rained on. Now—with the introduction of his first home line—he's bringing this vision to the realm of interiors. At the Milan Furniture Fair this spring, he unveiled a collection that includes wallpaper, doors, and rugs printed to look like they've been plucked from the era of Michelangelo—along with lamps made from old liquor bottles, which give the fantastical line roots in reality.
