With great American furniture studios in short supply, it's heartening to come across a striking debut collection in—of all places—Milwaukee. A blend of industrial and mid-century-Japanese aesthetics, Misewell's pieces were designed by Paul and Vincent Georgeson, 28 and 30, who grew up 25 miles away in Racine watching their dad build cabinets in the garage. If that story alone isn't enough to earn the brothers a following, then the made-in-the-USA craftsmanship of their work certainly is: The folded-steel chairs and sleek lamps are constructed using, as Paul explains, "materials and processes that have been around for decades."
