In honor of Movember, the mustache-growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men's health, Details presents a guide to growing your own. To calm red skin under your mustache, slather on moisturizer or aftershave balm (for dry skin) or toner (for oily skin). You can also use conditioner—yes, the same kind you put on your hair—to keep the mustache soft, as long you rinse it out thoroughly. As for taming rogue strands, mustache combs are 1970s relics. Try smoothing on a pinhead-size amount of beard wax, like Clubman Moustache Wax (regular hair pomade

Adam Lambert's American Music Awards bump-and-grind performance on Sunday which included a lip lock with another dude set off a firestorm of controversy. First came the complaints from viewers (over 1,500 at last count), and now the backlash continues: Today Good Morning America canceled Lambert's scheduled appearance. Why? "We were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning." a network spokeswoman noted in a statement. Apparently, pelvic thrusts with a morning bagel and a latte just don't feel quite right over at ABC. Following the AMA show, Lambert told Access Hollywood "Honestly, if I offended some people,

To prepare for the holiday spending orgy that begins Friday, record labels have brought out their heavy hitters. Look for Adam Lambert's debut album, For Your Entertainment, Shakira's She Wolf, and Rihanna's much-anticipated post-beatdown Rated R to hit shelves. But who's going to be king of the charts when Black Friday has come and gone? His Holiness, that's who. Pope Benedict XVI's first album, Alma Mater: Music from the Vatican, dropped yesterday. It contains eight original modern classical music pieces with the pontiff himself laying down the prayers in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French, and German. First Michael Steele tries to

If you spend your Turkey Day as more of an observer than an executive chef, here are some guy- and wallet-friendly trinkets that would make good gifts for your culinary host—because, let's be honest, you'll probably drink most of the wine you bring anyway. 1) Hors d'oeuvre skewers: Perfect for the friend who's mortally afraid of dirty fingers and double dipping ($30, jaysonhomeandgarden.com) 2) Fridge-magnet bottle opener: The present that keeps guests from digging through kitchen drawers ($27, charlesandmarie.com) 3) Set of double-wall shot glasses: They work as well for espresso as tequila since they keep drinks hot or cold

How To Trim It If you feel like your 'stache is too thick, make it slimmer by shaving off a quarter of an inch from the area directly below your nose. Use a single-blade razor, like a Bic, when slimming down the 'stache. "It gives you a clean look," says Carl Cwiok, a master barber at The Art of Shaving. But don't take off any more than that or you'll wind

"24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?" —Stephen Wright Last year, at the age of 47, Rick Lyke had a brush with prostate cancer. He survived—not only to tell about it but to tell about it in a bold new way. As an expert in marketing and communications, he understood the monstrous challenge before him. He had to persuade men to talk. To doctors. About their privates. But he quickly hit on a solution: Pints for Prostates, an organization that reaches out to dudes on bar stools and dudes at beer festivals to raise funds and

Did you hear the news? This week, President Obama pledged lifelong obedience and servitude to Japanese emperor Akihito. With one quick bow he turned over all American nuclear-weapons codes, signed over the contents of the U.S. Treasury, and gave the Japanese monarch special privileges with the First Lady. The American presidency is no more. Or at least that's what some in Washington want you to believe. With headlines like "HOW LOW WILL HE GO?" and comments from former vice president Dick Cheney about Obama showcasing "weakness," a portion of the punditry seems to think that the president's bow to the

J. Crew's Jenna Lyons and Frank Muytjens To an outside observer, walking into the J. Crew/Monocle magazine cocktail party last night, at the J. Crew men's shop in Manhattan, might have felt a little like attending a well-styled hunting convention. The room was packed with men in various incarnations of the plaid flannel shirt, waxed-canvas field jackets were worn over tweed blazers, while thick-rimmed glasses, workwear boots, and beards finished off the hipster-hiker looks. There's no question that rugged American fashion has reached fever pitch, but is it here to stay? Jenna Lyons, the creative director of J. Crew
