Why Is Adam Lambert Always Getting Everyone's Panties In A Twist?
Adam Lambert's American Music Awards bump-and-grind performance on Sunday which included a lip lock with another dude set off a firestorm of controversy. First came the complaints from viewers (over 1,500 at last count), and now the backlash continues: Today Good Morning America canceled Lambert's scheduled appearance. Why? "We were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning." a network spokeswoman noted in a statement. Apparently, pelvic thrusts with a morning bagel and a latte just don't feel quite right over at ABC.
Following the AMA show, Lambert told Access Hollywood "Honestly, if I offended some people, you know, it's apples and oranges . . . I'm not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression. I believe in honoring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren't really for everybody either." It seems that Adam has veered a bit from his master plan. After all, he did say during a Details cover interview that "I just want to entertain. I don't want [my music] to be a political or social thing right away. Eventually I would love to mess with that, but it's a tricky, tricky road. There's a part of me that's a businessperson and part of me that's an artist, and the artist wants to push buttons and break boundaries, but the businessperson goes, 'Well, that doesn't really sell albums.' I don't want to alienate a bunch of people who would otherwise be into what I do."
