Unis, one of menswear's best-kept secrets, will change the way you think about chinos. Owner and designer Eunice Lee has spent the past decade quietly perfecting her arsenal of pared-down essentials, and her toil is your gain. Everything about these pants, from the weight of the twill (substantial but not heavy) to the shape of the legs (tapered but not anorexic) to the well-tailored waist (tab closure with a slightly lower rise), hits the sweet spot between fashion and utility. They come in classic colors like khaki and stone, or less obvious ones like gray and ink. Try a couple each season. Lee keeps the whole lot in perennial rotation because she believes that understated basics never go out of style.
