Asperger's in the Air

Details brought you the news that Asperger's is the mental health syndrome of the moment back in February, and the trend continues on.

Earlier this week, Jim Parsons (pictured above with costar Kaley Cuoco), the star of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, took home the Emmy for best actor in a comedy thanks to his portrayal of a big-brained scientist with no social skills—a character many fans think has a highly functioning form of autism. And while most New Yorkers dutifully wait for public transportation, a 45-year-old man believed to be afflicted with Asperger's took matters into his own hands. For the 27th time. Darius McCollum was arrested yesterday on the Van Wyck Expressway in Queens while driving a Trailways bus that had been reported stolen, but he's been captivated with transit toys since age 15 when he was accused of "borrowing" his first subway train and driving it from 34th Street to the World Trade Center. Interested in more than just the local E train, he has been arrested for impersonating an MTA worker, sneaking into the 57th Street control tower, and even attempting to commandeer a 60-ton Bombardier M-7 on the Long Island Rail Road, according to the New York Daily News.
