The Anti-Gym Crusader

Frenchman Erwan Le Corre founded MovNat, short for Movement Natural, with the goal of changing society, not just our training methods. Thanks to technology, social conventions, and crass consumerism, we are, in his eyes, suffering the plight of animals in captivity; we're caught in a spiral of mental, spiritual, and physical decline. His solution is a return to primal human movements—the running, jumping, climbing, lifting, catching, scrambling, and throwing we used to survive as hunter-gatherers, which is what we've been for the vast majority of our time as a species. MovNat offers one-, two-, and five-day workshops across the country, where you can learn a battery of physical skills designed to make you move with greater control, efficiency, and perception—improving your fitness, flexibility, and brute strength along the way. A typical lesson: learning how to hook one leg on an overhead tree limb, then swing your other leg to generate enough momentum to mount the branch before jumping down and continuing on your way. And no, you don't need to be a tree hugger to be a tree climber.
