Sasha Maslov's Forgotten Village photo series examines coal-mining life in post-Soviet Ukraine. See it at New York'sSputnik Gallery tonight at 6 p.m.

No Age, HEALTH, Cults, and Ceremony rock the stage tonight at the House of Vans in Brooklyn at 7 p.m.

The Album Leaf brings its melodies to Orange County's Detroit Bar at 9 p.m.

Friday:

Portland's high-energy alt rock group The Thermals hit Brooklyn's The Bell House with Big Troubles and EULA.

Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Tree focuses on a girl who talks to her dead father through—yes—a tree. It's screening at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens at 7 p.m.

Saturday:

Sonoi brings its wonderfully eclectic mix of pop and electronic beats to Chicago's Empty Bottle.

Sunday:

Don't miss the Thom Yorke-esque band Home Video at Brooklyn Bowl with MillionYoung and Tiny Victories.
