Sophisticated Schoolboys: Carven's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection
After refreshing and reviving
Carven's women's wear, the designer Guillaume Henry is doing the same for the men's line, offering a sophisticated take on the schoolboy look with the label's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Complete with cropped jackets, boyish collars, and—yes—pocket protectors, the lookbook is belt-deep in childhood nostalgia. But these designs are far from the school clothes Mommy bought you. Known for its business attire, France-based Carven maintains its tradition of elegantly constructed pieces in neutrals, along with blacks, whites, and blues, even as it tackles streetwear. These jackets, shorts, dress shirts, and flat-front chinos with rolled cuffs have a bit of the boy in them but are nonetheless essential for every man's closet.
