Zap! Ping! Art? Videogames come to MoMA
Proving how far we've come since the debut of Pong almost 40 (yes, 40) years ago, this week you can enjoy some video games at New York's temple of modern art, MoMA. This Wednesday, from 8:30 to 11:30, the museum's PopRally series presents "Arcade", a one-day event where you can play a variety of cutting-edge digital games scattered about MoMA's floors. The show, inspired by MoMA's "Talk to Me" exhibit—a study of communication between people and objects—is sponsored by Kill Screen, an arts and culture company created to analyze the gaming industry in an intelligent, critical manner. So bring your friends, have a few drinks, listen to music provided by Heathered Pearls, and play some video games. Sure beats a night at home alone with Modern Warfare.
