Head Porter Plus' Fall/Winter Collection Has Us Thinking Plaid Again
In the past, Japanese brand
Head Porter Plus has taken American staples and turned them on their heads. (T-shirt pockets on sleeves? Done. Transposing the varsity cardigan onto a blazer? Done.) What's new for fall/winter 2011? The most notable redesign has to be the chinos with forked-flannel inseams. The rest of the line features somewhat less radical, though beautifully traditional, designs: a sleek navy tassel coat, washed-out T-shirts, and a thick knit sweater complete with a snowflake pattern. The belts are beauties too—nothing but clean-cut leather with a little "+" mark as the sole detail. Finally, even though the plaid boat sailed long ago, the colorful, grungeless patterns offered here make us want to hop on board again—no small feat.
