Black and White is the New Nude: Masahiko Maruyama's 2012 Spring Collection
Nude, the Japanese line by Masahiko Maruyama, has just released its 2012 spring/summer lookbook, and, true to the brand's name, the focus is on shape rather than on pattern or color. Almost all the items are solid tones—usually black or white, with only the occasional gray to keep things lively. Minimal as it is, the new collection is a refreshing change after a colorful summer, and a reminder of what fashion is at its core: the expression of human form through cloth shapes. Of course, all this highfalutin purity doesn't mean you can't accent these exquiste monochromatic pieces with
a punch of color here and there.
