Burberry's chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, has nailed it again. The brand's sophisticated spring 2013 pre-collection mixes textures, colors, and prints for a fresh take on transitional seasonal dressing. Sprinkled throughout are cool modern touches, such as hand-painted, micro-geometric-print cotton T-shirts and silk scarves.
Says Bailey, "We wanted the pre-collection to have an elegant and tailored feel to it—we played with textures and prints and wove trench references [and] sartorial detailing ... This collection has this real heritage spirit to it—an element which is, as ever, at the heart of everything we do."
Standouts include the trim suiting and sculptural jackets. And we especially love the printed silk scarves—a staple of smart layering.
