Success in the fashion world is usually a numbers-driven affair. Sales figures, year-over-year percent increases, sell-throughs—these are the kinds of measuring sticks companies traditionally tout as proof that business is booming. In New York City, though, there's another indicator: real estate—as in, launching a new shop in a coveted zip code. And for that kind of success, there's a new example par excellence: The new Acne store at the corner of Grand and Greene Streets in SoHo, which opened on Friday.
Perhaps it's because you can see the old shop, a perfectly serviceable white box of a store, from the new one. Or maybe it's because the new shop is a 4,000-square-foot luxe labyrinth of glittering black and white tile, plush carpeting, and dove-gray partitions, replete with a designated shoe salon. Either way, when you walk through the doors at 33 Greene Street, this much is clear: Acne has arrived—and by extension, so have you. We'd suggest you drop by and scoop up some of the best jeans the world has to offer.
