After jousting with network-TV censors for 10 seasons, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane gets a chance to really cut loose by directing his first feature film, Ted, which hits theaters today.
Universal reportedly gave MacFarlane $65 million to do what he does best—create subversive talking animals—in this story of a man whose lifelong friendship with a foul-mouthed teddy bear ends up wreaking havoc on his love life. Starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, with MacFarlane voicing the bear (think Peter Griffin from South Boston), Ted more than earns its R rating—and that's a good thing.
