I remember when I first saw a stack of friendship bracelets on the arm of a guy in Greece five years ago. He was young and tan and in sick shape with messy beach hair, and it looked mad cool. We were in the Mediterranean, and it all just made sense.
Cut to last weekend in Sag Harbor, where I saw the look on an older, portly fellow who wore the bracelets on the same wrist as his massive gold, sporty chronograph watch. His hair was severely gelled and parted. He had on an ironed white shirt with a pale-pink cashmere sweater over his shoulders. He looked like a tool.
This trend is now officially over for me. Lose the bracelets.
