The latest crop of dating apps leaves the likes of Grindr in the dust. Here are seven new apps that take the random out of romance.

Bad Date Rescue
Have this eHarmony-developed app interrupt your dire date with a phone call from a fictional character of your choice. Schedule the call countdown and choose from several fake scenarios—your date never has to know it's a digital neighbor that needs you to rush to his rescue. (Free; available for iPhone)

Dating CRM
Confused Sarah with Samantha one too many times? Keep names, dates, and details straight with an app that promises to be the ultimate little black book. Dating CRM dedicates space to every lady in your life, serving as a place to record where you met, what movies she likes, and what she drinks. You'll look smooth when you remember she likes a twist of lemon in her martinis. (Free; available in beta)

Flikdate
Speed dating has gone mobile. Flikdate allows you to have a 90-second virtual meeting before committing to an in-person rendezvous. Add up to 10 minutes of video time if sparks fly, or abandon a sinking ship by simply signing off. (Free; available for iPhone)

Highlight
Using GPS tracking, Highlight notifies you with a ping when friends or strangers with mutual interests (as identified on their social media profiles) are near your current location, making it oh-so-easy to bump into the friend-of-a-friend you've been crushing on. (Free; available for iPhone)

Kismet
Use Kismet to see who's checked in nearby and turn Facebook and Foursquare into your digital dating pool. The app pinpoints users on a map and pops up their profiles on command—you'll see how often they've visited your favorite haunts and whether they've met anyone else there. (Free; available for iPhone)

SceneTap
Take the trial-and-error out of bar-hopping with SceneTap, an app that scans the faces of patrons at participating watering holes and tells you where to find the most women. Age and gender-ratios are included in the report—determining a potential date's availability will still be up to you. (Free; available for Android and iPhone)

Yoke
This app works hand-in-hand with Facebook to find single friends who share your taste in Amazon purchases and Netflix queues. Unlike other dating apps, you don't have to set up a separate profile on Yoke. Instead, it automatically culls your media interests, including your Spotify playlist, from your Facebook account. (Free; available on Facebook)
