In 2009, she died of lung cancer, just five days after her illness was diagnosed and two days before her countryman, the director Wim Wenders, was to start shooting a 3-D documentary about her. So instead Wenders created a tribute, the ravishing Pina. (If you haven't seen it, you're missing out.) At the time of Bausch's death, the Tanztheater Wuppertal had just begun performing Bausch's final work, " . . . como el musguito en la piedra, ay si, si, si . . . " ( . . . like moss on a stone), and now they're bringing it to the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Go. You will be dazzled and moved. October 18-27, bam.org.
