In honor of its 25th anniversary, Oliver Peoples recently released two special-edition frames: The XXV-RX (pictured below) and the XXV-5. An old sketch from 1989 was the inspiration for both, according to company founder and creative director Larry Leight. "I wanted it to be new for our consumer but still remain true to our roots," he explains. "My rediscovery of these designs encompass exactly that." To mark the occasion, Leight hired filmmaker Patrick Hoelck to direct a short film starring Ray Liotta and Bar Paly.
Premiering today on oliverpeoples.com, the film (titled Studio 9) brings together the two magnetic Hollywood actors at the backdrop of the famed Sony Studios lot. Hoelck's minimalist approach perfectly showcases Leigh's idea for the 25-year celebration: modern design paired with the brand's Hollywood roots. You can view the short below.—Lauren Tousignant
