Get the Look: Matthew McConaughey's Textured Top-Crop

The Mud star has said he only cuts his hair by the lunar calendar (apparently trimming under a full moon leads to thick locks), but this time the shears came out for a film he's shooting in New Orleans, says celebrity hairstylist Losi, who styled McConaughey's hair for our cover shoot.

"Matthew likes it. It's a very classic style, and he can wear casual, Wall Street, and formal versions of it," Losi says. Here are her rules for scoring the same style.

The Cut: "It's a basic short cut that's not too tapered in the back and the sides—basically one length all over. When you have fine hair with waves and the hair is cut too short, it just lays flat on the head."

The Style: "Less is more. Just use an all-over application of a texturing spray, such as Oribe's Texture Spray. When I added a paste (Magic Moves), it gave it some separation."

Quick Tip: "Fine, wavy hair (like Matt's) works best either long or short. The in-between stage is a horror to deal with. Pick a cut that works best for you and your lifestyle."
