Mr. Hare, the British shoe brand that has been making handsome loafers and lace-ups since 2009, finally created a "proper" line of sneakers.
Though it technically already offers a sneaker called the Vonnegut in its product lineup, Mr. Hare bills the three pairs of all-black street shoes it will start selling on May 1 as its first sneaker collection.
Designer Marc Hare says the $585 Jack Johnson high-tops are his favorite pair from the trio, but added that the $535 low-tops (Cunningham) and the $480 slip-ons (Llewlyn) were designed to be sleek enough to wear with a suit. The brand's Pro Black shoe polish should come in handy for keeping the shoes' Italian calf leather uppers pristine.
"I'm not a spring chicken anymore, so I wanted something with a bit more sophistication," Hare said. "But let's not forget I'm a child of the hip-hop generation, so smart as they needed to be, they also had to stay B-Boy fresh."
The shoes will be available on MrPorter.com, MrHare.com, in Harvey Nichols, and other specialty retailers around the world. And because there's no sneaker like a limited-edition sneaker, Mr. Hare is only making 200 pairs of each model over eight sizes. Shop fast.
