How a 3D Printer Helped Make Pringle's Spring 2015 Collection

In some fashion circles, the future is now.

Pringle of Scotland's new Tattersall-filled collection might have been inspired by the '60s and '70s, but its production relied on technology you can only get today. Designer Massimo Nicosia talked with Details about new stitching techniques, the 3D printer he used on some of his sweaters, and his next big project.

What inspired this season collection?
"Golf in the 60's and 80's has played an important part in this seasons collection. Golf has always been a part of Pringle's heritage but this latest collection uses new technology in the manufacture of the clothes. New stitches and techniques, including the use of 3D technology have been used to create a collection that mixes the past and future together."

How did 3D printing help with this collection?
"We used a 3D printer to incorporate ladders into the cable detail. Original archive pieces have also been replicated as part of this season's showing. I really like the iconic cable knit cricket jumper."

What is next for the brand?
"We are doing another collaboration with Underground shoes. This season we used the contemporary 'creeper' style shoe with leather golf tassels in black, navy and white leather."
