Well Suited: Valentino's Colorblocked Canadian Tuxedo

How the house's designers turned a flagrant faux pas into something fashionable.

It goes without saying that getting denim-on-denim right can be really hard to do, but Valentino's Pierpaolo Piccoli and Maria Grazia Chiuri pulled it off when they created this two-toned suit for their Spring 2014 collection.

Tailoring is a big part of the success here (has this material ever looked more sophisticated?), but so is the unexpected twist of fusing several shades of denim together. The back and inner arms of the jacket, for example, are a lighter shade than the front. If only this had been an option for Justin Timberlake in 2001.
