Every week we dive into the pool of celebrity Instagram posts to see what our favorite actors, artists, writers, musicians, DJs, designers, and notorious selfie-takers are posting. Below are recent shots that captured our attention—because they're funny, telling, timely, or all of the above.
1. Tim Barber
NYC-based photographer, curator and designer Tim Barber may be the former photo editor of Vice (he now runs the website Time & Space), but he's also adept at capturing innocent pleasures such as this pastoral swimming hole in upstate New York. Cannonball, anyone?
2. Nicola Formichetti
What do the fashion-industry elite do on their day off? In the case of Diesel's dressed-down creative director—and Steven Klein's frequent partner in crime—Nicola Formichetti, he spent Sunday afternoon checking out Jeff Koons's pop-tastic retrospective at the Whitney Museum, much like every other art-loving New Yorker.
3. Taylor Swift
In case you don't know: Taylor Swift's friends, including Lena Dunham, Emma Stone, Jamie King, and Jessica Szohr, are cooler than your friends. Way cooler. Her self-described "family portrait" was snapped at the singer's Rhode Island beach house over the weekend. Bonus points if you can guess how many of these ladies once dated John Mayer.
4. Bumble Ward
Movie P.R. maven and L.A. scenester Bumble Ward takes a break from documenting her idyllic Laurel Canyon lifestyle to offer her male followers some sage advice about the opposite sex. "Even more disconcerting that her sleeve looks like a clown costume," observed one eagle-eyed commenter.
5. Fabien Baron
Ever wonder what Karl Lagerfeld gifts his fabulous friends on their birthdays? "The most insane cake/flower combo," reported recipient Fabien Baron, the graphic-design god and current art/editorial director of Interview.
6. Glen Luchford
Did British photographer Glen Luchford capture the eccentricity and anal-retentive perfectionism of legendary director Stanley Kubrick? Alas, it's a fake. But the Internet loved it anyway.
7. Alex Olson
Pro-skater pin-up-boy-turned-impresario Alex Olson—the man behind the sicker-than-thou skateboarding company Bianca Chandon—does what he does best on Instagram: documenting the intersection of youth culture and urban fashion on four wheels.
8. Amy Sacco
Nightlife queen (and longtime Bungalow 8 owner) Amy Sacco inspires her followers every few days with amazingly funny pithy quotes. It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with the maxims (or even understand them); it's just neat to get into her head.
9. Calum Best
Who knew that Santa Claus was hiding such a ripped situation underneath his red suit? Thanks to model, reality star and hair-transplant aficionado Calum Best, this creepy Saint-Nick-on-steroids is bound to deliver lots of presents—in your nightmares!
10. Matt Bomer
"All I wanted for Christmas was a hairbrush," lamented the prettiest face on basic cable, Matt Bomer, after sharing this #throwbackthursday photo from 1981, when he was four years old. In other words, the actor realized he was gay at a very young age.
11. David and Victoria Beckham
We're not sure what's more disturbing: The fact the world's most stylish couple, David and Victoria Beckham, cut into their wedding cake with a saber, or that they appear to be dressed as Prince's backup singers in the Purple Rain era. This is the opposite of fashion-forward—but that didn't stop them from tweeting this photo on their 15th anniversary.
