Every week we dive into the pool of celebrity Instagram posts to see what our favorite actors, artists, writers, musicians, DJs, designers, and notorious selfie-takers are posting. Below are recent shots that captured our attention—because they're funny, telling, timely, or all of the above.
1. Johnny Weir
Celebrities are NOT like us. Case in point: They get way better birthday presents. (As for the rest of us? We're lucky if our friends take the time to write "happy bday" on our Facebook walls.) "Thank you to my beautiful, incredible and wonderful fans for your birthday gifts!" gushed Johnny Weir. "This Trifari dragon is magnificent!"
2. Adam Lambert
The ginger hair! Those Dumbo ears! The totally-awesome-eighties tie from Chess King! Believe it or not, this unrecognizable portrait of the artist as a young man is Adam Lambert, who recalls his early fashion choices with horror: "Earth tones," he wrote, and you can almost see him shudder.
3. Gianluca Vacchi
Who knew that Zac Efron could ride a horse? What's less surprising is that an older, wealthy, tattooed Italian man is happy to invite the young Hollywood stallion to stay at his summer home in Sardinia.
4. LeBron James
Fitness freaks: Don't try this at home! Even if you have a spare tire (get it?) this is one secret celebrity workout routine that only professional athletes should attempt.
5. Jake Shears
"Anybody want some GLINT?" cracked go-go boy-turned-Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears. Don't hate him because he's beautiful; even pop stars require crazy beauty routines to stay photogenic in the Selfie Era.
6. Karl Lagerfeld
You may have heard that Karl Lagerfeld's pampered pussycat has its own Instagram account. But wait, there's more: Choupette, the cat in question, just landed a deal to be the new face of Shu Uemura's holiday collection, which is not a line of cat cosmetics but rather for the beautiful people like Jake Shears. None other than the fashion legend himself is shooting the campaign.
7. Kellan Lutz
Behold! The Hercules star was spotted sightseeing around Rio without an entourage. "I've been trying to come to Brazil for years now and finally the stars lined up," said Lutz. "And it just so happened to be for the FIFA World Cup! Killing two bucket list birds with one stone!"
8. Riccardo Tisci
Givenchy's creative director is too fabulous to take his own selfies. Or perhaps designing for Kim Kardashian's body is simply exhausting. Either way: Riccardo Tisci relied on London-based photographer Cuneyt Akeroglu to snap this fragrance campaign-worthy shot of him glistening in the Ibiza sun.
9. Tom Ford
Tom Ford, it seems, prefers the life of a rugged ranch hand to beach getaways. Effortlessly channeling the Marlboro Man, the designer celebrated the success of his Velvet Orchid fragrance by getting back in the saddle at the Santa Fe retreat he shares with his longtime partner, Richard Buckley.
10. Shawn Sachs
New York-based power publicist Shawn Sachs (his clients include Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck) makes the most of his time outside of the Hollywood spotlight. "Some old guy told me this might be the pier where the Titanic would have docked. It is just below Houston," Sachs said.
11. Team Coco
Conan O'Brien may be less than a perfect 10, but that didn't stop him from attempting a Bo Derek-inspired makeover, spray tan and cornrows included. I think we can all agree that there's just something inherently wrong about seeing an orange Irishman.
12. Gisele Bündchen
Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bündchen shows her love for her native country (not to mention her flawless mane of blonde hair) while watching the nail-biting final World Cup match between Germany and Argentina. (Not pictured: Thousands of Argentinian fans crying their eyes out.)
