This Week in Fashion: Christian Lacroix Gets New Shoes, and the New Kids at the CFDA

New shoes are the best shoes.

The week's top stories in fashion.

  • Christian Lacroix is set to debut a shoe and trainer line next spring. While the price point hasn't hit the interwebs yet, we've been told to expect colorful and graphic printed slider styles as well as some lace-ups fit for more formal occasions. (FashionBeans)

  • Thirty American designers officially became members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America this week, and there are some seriously talented people on the list of new inductees. Ben and Doug Burkman from Burkman Bros, Raan and Shea Parton of Apolis, Ernest Sabine from Ernest Alexander, Carlos Campos, and Tim Coppens are among the menswear designers added to the CFDA's ranks. All told, the trade organization now has 578 members. (CFDA)

  • New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker is adding another line to his resumé: model. He joined a long list of athletes-turned-models with the Fall 2014 campaign for Buffalo David Bitton, which also stars onetime Victoria's Secret model Erin Heatherton. (The Fashionisto)

  • Italian brand Ports 1961 has tapped designer, editor, photographer, and all-around street style star Milan Vikmirovic as its new creative director for menswear. It's a new position, but Vikmirovic should do the job admirably. In the past he's held design jobs at Trussardi and Jil Sander. (WWD)

  • And speaking of shoes, Lacoste has launched an application that show users what some of its trainers look like on their feet. Called LCST AR, the app uses augmented reality to project an image of a shoe onto your foot, meaning you can see what a shoe will look like without trying it on. Unfortunately, it can't help you imagine what the kicks will feel like. There's not an app for that yet. (Bidness Etc)
