Best Celebrity Instagrams of the Week: Mark Ruffalo, Nick Lachey, Chip Kidd, and 13 Others

In this edition: Mark Ruffalo's Comic-Con candid moment, Liam Payne bares all (almost) on a boat, and Clark Little captures the beauty inside a barrel of a wave.

Every week we dive into the pool of celebrity Instagram posts to see what our favorite actors, artists, writers, musicians, DJs, designers, and notorious selfie-takers are posting. Below are recent shots that captured our attention—because they're funny, telling, timely, or all of the above.

1. Mark Ruffalo

Did you hear that noise? It was the sound of millions of nerds' heads exploding after Mark Ruffalo posted this group photo of the "Avengers (almost) assembled"—including Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr. and Jeremy Renner—sans spandex costumes at Comic-Con. One commenter shared put it mildly: "This. Is. Everything."

2. Scott Schuman

"What should you do at the beach club when it rains?" asks fashion blogger Scott Schuman AKA the Sartorialist, who spotted this colorful pair in the Italian coastal town of Rimini. "Have lunch while wearing a funny hat!" So now you know. When in Rimini. . .

3. Nick Lachey

As fans of Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica may remember, Lachey is notoriously frugal, especially when it comes to paying someone to do household repairs. Well, some things never change, even when marital partners do. "Got caught by @VanessaLachey cleaning the skylights on a 102 degree day in the Valley!" wrote the former 98 Degrees frontman, referring to his new wife. Hey, at least her husband does windows.

4. Chip Kidd

"With Chuck Palahniuk at Comic-Con! Meeting for the first time!" wrote famed book cover designer Chip Kidd, geeking out over his proximity to the Fight Club author. But don't you know the first rule of Comic-Con, Chip? You do not talk about Comic-Con!

5. Brad Goreski

"I prefer a thinking headdress over a thinking cap," said stylist-to-the-stars Brad Goreski. Remember what Coco Chanel once said: "Before leaving the house, a lady should look in the mirror and remove one accessory." In this case, I'd recommend losing that hat—unless you're headed to the beach club in Rimini, that is.

6. Alex Prager

Artist and filmmaker Alex Prager isn't coy about her inspirations and influences; in fact, she frequently shares them on Instagram. In this case, it's Weegee—the alter ego of photographer Arthur Fellig—who was best known for his trademark black and white work, such as this surreal distortion of Bette Davis eyes.

7. Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg posted this photo that attempts to elevate mugshots to the level of artwork. The West Coast rap icon is pictured below Robert Downey, Jr., and sandwiched between Sinatra and Sid Vicious—not bad company. Wall of fame or wall of shame? You decide.

8. Julie Lee

Photographer and food stylist Julie Lee's produce collages are a feast for the eyes—literally. "Nature, your textures and patterns are the best!" she exclaimed. "Also, if you have a fig tree, can we be BFFs, please?" Some girls want flowers, others will settle for figs.

9. Liam Payne

Perhaps not surprisingly, 624,000 One Erection—er, Direction—fans liked this photo of boy-band hottie Liam Payne's pixelated private parts. "Damn that was my last pair," he said, presumably referring to his Speedo (or lack thereof). Sure, exhibitionistic Liam went a little overboard this time, but at least he didn't jump the shark.

10. Marvel

The Hulk: Now and then! "Lou Ferrigno and @MarkRuffalo [having] a SMASHing time" at Comic-Con, according to the studio of superheroes. But it's obviously not easy being green—just ask ex-Hulks Edward Norton and Eric Bana, wherever they are.

• • •

11. Esa Laukkanen

Instagram was made for travel porn like this. "Sky clearing after a thunderstorm hit Venice," wrote Helsinki-based graphic designer Esa Laukkanen. "For a moment it was raining so hard, you couldn't see San Giorgio Maggiore island from Piazza San Marco." Don't you hate when that happens?

12. E.J. Johnson

"This cape from the Dallas collection has my name written all over it! I think I need to snatch it," said the flamboyant son of basketball legend Magic Johnson, who did not exactly follow in his father's sneaker-clad footsteps. Instead of tackling sports, E.J. is starring in a reality show on E! (Rich Kids of Beverly Hills)—and dare we say that he wears Chanel better than all of the Kardashians combined?

13. Terry Richardson

If embattled photographer Terry Richardson continues to shoot topless stars, he might want to consider sticking to rappers such as Wiz Khalifa. "Look for his new record #Blacchollywood out soon," enthused the lusty lensman of his tattooed subject.

14. Clark Little

Nobody captures the majestic blue crush of shorebreak waves quite like Napa-born, Oahu-based photographer Clark Little. With pro-surfing skills and a waterproof camera in hand, his award-winning results are downright rapturous: Behold the intersection of hang ten and zen.

15. Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler (on all fours, of course) and her flock of Hollywood bad girls feted Sandra Bullock (top left) for her 50th birthday far away from TMZ's cameras in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We're guessing that hot-pink thong and pasty buns belong to classy Whitney Cummings.

16. Miley Cyrus

Ah, life on the road. Believe it or not, Terry Richardson is not responsible for snapping this latest shirtless pic of his muse-in-Daisy-Dukes, Miley Cyrus. And even though her back is turned, you just know that she's sticking out her tongue. Peace out, Miley.
