You'd think with the recent spate of backpack endorsements we've doled out (see here and here) we'd be at our saturation point when it comes to the back to school essential. Not so, dear friends, not so. As the backpack picks up steam, the more options we have have to choose from and variety, as they say, is the spice of life. On the tippy top of the assortment is good ole' Louis Vuitton—purveyors of luxury par excellence.
Far be it from the French maison to exclude themselves from the schoolyard-gone-mainstream movement. Thus, the release of Vuitton's luxe take on the humble knapsack. Designed specifically with the U.S. market in mind, this new roster comes in the textbook (ha) shape, and tricked out with all the pockets, sleeves, and compartments that make modern life (and the juggling of multiple electronic devices) manageable. However, canvas or nylon knock-around carryalls these are not. Vuitton crafts its bags from pliant Taurillon leather and constructs them at its own workshops in models ranging from the subtle (pebbled black) to the time-honored (the brand's brown checkerboard Damier print) to the flashy (the signature Vuitton logo). The latest styles, seen here, are landing at a selection of stateside flagships today (New York, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, to name a few) and will hit the brand's online store in the coming weeks. In other words, start saving up—these puppies cost anywhere from $2,440 to $5,000. Which is a lot, but not nearly as much as a semester in private school.
