As we know by now, Pharrell Williams simply cannot be limited to one form of creative expression. But what could possibly be left after he curated a fancy French art exhibit, released an album, created a fragrance, and collaborated with some of the coolest brands in the fashion industry? Video games, duh.
ESPN reports that Pharrell worked with 2K Sports to select the music for its newest basketball game, NBA2K15. (He's in good company: Jay Z served as the executive producer for the 2012 iteration of this game, and LeBron James picked the songs last year.) And instead of being one long tour of Pharrell's history as an artist, he included a decidedly broad mixture of tunes by everyone from Depeche Mode and The Black Keys to Snoop Dogg and Clipse. Even Lorde's catchy adolescent friendship anthem Team is on the list.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Pharrell's smash hit Happy isn't included. And that's a missed opportunity: who wouldn't want to listen to that elated track after making a virtual dunk?
Listen to the songs that our pop culture messiah thought were worthy, below.
