Once upon a time, men were judged by their shoes. And to be fair, what you put on your feet still matters … but not as much as the definition of your deltoids or the bulk of your biceps. You're strapped with some 800 muscles, but when it comes to looking your best at the beach, only a fraction of them truly matter. They're vanity muscles and are the stuff of raw sexual power. "I call them the action-hero muscles, the muscles that everyone lusts after," says Ashley Borden, the Hollywood trainer who helped Ryan Gosling carve the body that later should have won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Six-Pack in Crazy, Stupid, Love. "Pure and simple, when people see them, they imagine you naked." We've rounded up the top training tricks to help you better brand your body's sexiest selling points. Swimsuit season is on the horizon, so focus on these for a while and fun times will follow.

TRAPS

The Move: Seated Behind-the-Back Half-Row
Traditional traps exercises are the most controversial in the fitness world, since so many put undue stress on the neck and shoulders. Leave those to pros and gym rats. To shape yours safely, do this modified row. Grab a pair of dumbbells and sit on a bench. Let the bells hang behind you. Keeping your neck neutral and your back straight, brace your core, squeeze your shoulder blades together, and slowly lift the bells up no higher than your mid-back.
