Portlandia: 20 Exclusive Behind the Scenes Photos—Shot by Carrie Brownstein!

We gave former Sleater-Kinney guitarist and current alt-comedienne Carrie Brownstein a camera to document the left-of-center oddballs who populate Portlandia, IFC's hilarious sketch show, back for a second season in January. Brownstein and co-star Fred Armisen (of Saturday Night Live) may look normal (see photo #1), but tune in to see them dreadlocked, mustached, and defying gravity.

Season two of Portlandia premieres January 6th on IFC.

I can't give away too much, but this is an anti-gravity machine that one of our crew members, Brian, is bravely putting himself into. Anytime we bring anything strange onto the set, there are always one or two crew members who want to show off that they can ride a Segway or a one-wheeled motorcycle. I'm the same way. We're all really competitive, and the producers get scared that one of us is going to hurt ourselves, but it's a good distraction.
