80 Years of Red-Carpet Style: What Leading Men Have Worn to the Oscars

From the early days of the Academy Awards—back when the ceremony was short and included a dinner open to the public—to its current, endless format, one thing hasn't changed: The Oscars have always been a style destination.

We combed through old images and found a trove of stylish photos from the thirties to the present day. You want to see how style icons wore pocket-squares back in the day? How about bow-ties, side-parts, hats, scarves, and glasses? Look how young these fellas look, too: We've unearthed some early pics of Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Sidney Poitier, Rock Hudson, Warren Beatty, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck. Whether they went home with a trophy or not, they all look like winners to us.
