"It's tempting to be drawn to the most awe-inspiring partner possible, but the requirements to sustain marriage are much more than that spark of attraction," says Scott Haltzman, a doctor and the author of The Secrets of Happily Married Men. That also goes for marrying because your friends think she's out of your league or your parents don't approve—these qualities make both marriage and divorce more difficult than they already are.
