Cage Don't: Taking them too far. Cage, who amassed a comic book collection worth $1.6 million, prepped for the role of Superman (as written by Kevin Smith) and even named his son Kal-el, the name Superman was given when he was born on the planet Krypton.

You Do: Hobbies should give you a break from your life, not run it. "They can help improve relaxation and provide intellectual challenges. The difficulty with hobbies is that sometimes they can transition from an enjoyable pastime to an obsession," Haltzman says. Perhaps Kal-el would agree? "It helps to determine how much time and money you want to set aside for these pastimes. If you find that you're consistently going beyond what you've planned, that may be a sign that your hobby has become a destructive pursuit," he says.
