30 Best Marriage Equality Logo Riffs

Fans riff on the famous Human Rights Campaign logo to show support during a landmark week for the Marriage Equality Act.

Remember when you first saw the Human Rights Campaign's logo—the royal blue square with the bold, yellow equals sign that has become synonymous with LGBT rights since 1995, when it was created by the design firm Stone Yamashita? It was everywhere—car bumpers, school binders, even tattoos (just Google it).

That little blue square got a lot more famous this week, when HRC's director of marketing, Anastasia Khoo, had the idea to turn it pink and red, "the color of love," in support of the two historic marriage equality cases going before the Supreme Court. At 1 P.M. on Monday, March 25, HRC changed its Facebook profile image and asked its followers to do the same. The word spread, celebrities and major organizations joined in, and now Khoo estimates that Facebook participation is "in the millions."

It wasn't long before fans started riffing on the logo with their own take on the symbol of love. Here's a slideshow of our 30 favorites.
