Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Beer, Wine, and Spirits
Holiday stress can drive even the most temperate soul to drink, which is why alcohol is usually a safe gift. Of course, our pals in the booze industry make it difficult to select the proper potable by rolling out a mind-boggling number of festive products around this time every year. We bet you and yours will gleefully guzzle down the seasonal beers, whiskeys, wines, vodkas, rums, and tequilas we've helpfully singled out below.
For Those Who Seek the Grail
Samuel Adams Utopias 10th Anniversary Batch
Given that Samuel Adams has been serving up batches of this naturally fermented brew for a decade now, quite a few hopheads must crave the beer annually, even at this lofty price. It's certainly unusual: 29% ABV, carbonation-free, and best served at room temperature. Made from Munich malts and noble hops, Utopias summons tastes of maple, ginger, and cinnamon. But the liquid is almost secondary to what it's served in—an ornate container that wouldn't look out of place in an Indiana Jones movie.
