1. PREP: Place shoe trees in both shoes. Using a clean rag, rub leather conditioner on dry, cracked spots. Let the shoes dry.
2. POLISH: Apply polish with a cloth to the top and heel of each shoe. (Tip: Used cloths that are already caked with polish work best.) Rub the polish in with a shoe brush, starting from the toe. Use side-to-side and up-and-downmotions. Allow to dry.
3. TOUCH UP: Apply a second coat of polish, focusing on the tongue and the spaces under the buckles or laces and in crevices where the leather meets the sole. Run a small, round horsehair brush over these spots again with varied strokes. Allow to dry.
4. FINISH: Buff each shoe with a soft terry or cotton towel. Wear, and impress the world.
