The Arq lamp by BEplusHAVE re-creates the swoop of its namesake using hardware-store materials like PVC pipe and a 55-pound chunk of wood.

Pier and Achille Castiglioni got the idea for their 1962 lamp for Flos from Italy's street lights. The Arco's steel arm stretches eight-plus feet from a marble base, while its shade provides overhead illumination—no installation necessary.
