An International Guide to Sporting Vacation Destinations

A relaxing break doesn't have to mean a sedentary week spent in a lounge chair. From the Philippines to southern Spain, some of the most exotic and luxurious destinations in the world offer state-of-the-art sporting facilities for fans of scuba-diving, kite-surfing, rock-climbing, and other active escapes. Here, the health experts at the Q Blog by Equinox profile six active holidays that will take your breath away—for more reasons than one.

Philippines: Kitesurf

Where to Play: Flat water, long stretches of beach, and consistent winds make Boracay, a small island in the Philippines, an ideal kitesurfing destination. In particular, Bulabog beach, located on the east side of the island, is a good place to start, thanks to waist-deep water and minimal coral.

Where to Stay: For convenient access to the beach, rent an apartment or studio in the newly renovated Bahay Boracay. Each apartment has its own balcony with stunning views of the water.

The Draw: There's no shortage of kitesurfing schools and centers where you can rent equipment or book lessons for beginners.
