5 Things You Need to Know About Derek Jeter's Secret Underwear Line

The Yankee captain's high-end, high-tech knickers aren't your dad's tighty-whities.

Once he hangs up his cleats at the end of this season and becomes a full-time businessman, the ball sure will be in Derek Jeter's court.

According to the NY Post, the soon-to-be-retired Yankee great has already quietly become a part owner of Frigo RevolutionWear, a line of expensive men's boxer briefs that touts itself as a "game-changing" way for men to keep their junk comfortable by providing "lift." The thing is, Jeter doesn't want anyone to know it—he's been keeping his financial investment in the company a secret.

But now the banana's out of the hammock. Below, five facts about the ball player's burgeoning undie empire.

  1. Jeter's keeping his underwear (line) under wraps for a reason: "His team is concerned he'll turn into the next Jim Palmer," a source told Page Six, referring to the Orioles pitcher who arguably became more famous for his revealing Jockey ads than for the 19-year career that earned him a place in the Hall of Fame. Jeter even covered up his involvement while at a bash for the company last year, claiming he was there only as a friend of the CEO, neglecting to mention that he's got an ownership stake in the company.

  2. You won't see Jeter modeling his product in any ads: "It'd be too embarrassing," the source believes.

  3. These aren't your dad's Fruit of the Looms: The high-end undies retail for $100 a pop, and sell at top department stores like Neiman-Marcus, as well as Lord & Taylor and Macy's.

  4. Jeter's line claims to bring skivvies into the 21st century: Calling itself the "greatest innovation in men's underwear," it includes an adjustable "softlock" system and "stay4sure hem stabilizers" to keep the boxer-brief legs from riding up. It also boasts something called a "Frigo Zone," which, judging by the diagram on the company website, either keeps your crotch from overheating with a patented design and cooling fabric, or is a defensive system that shoots blue ice arrows from your groin when overenthusiastic sports fans forget that even sports icons need personal space. The company further promises that, instead of "compressing your package inward, Frigo provides support from behind so you won't feel constricted."

  5. Jeter isn't the only celebrity swinging free with Frigo: Other investors, so says the Post, include the Knicks' Carmelo Anthony and 50 Cent. But it isn't as easy to make ball jokes about a rapper.
