Got a minute? Mouthy matchmaker Patti Stanger sounds off on the trouble with feminists, Valentine's Day pitfalls, and the upcoming season of The Millionaire Matchmaker (Thursdays at 10 P.M. on Bravo).
Q: The second season of Millionaire Matchmaker includes three millionairesses and one gay man. Who proved to be more challenging for you, the millionairesses or the gay man?
A: Millionairesses by far. Gay men I love. I can eat them up and lick them up with honey.
Q: Some people call your feedback too traditional. On the show you say, for example, that men don't like short hair. Have you ever incurred the wrath of a feminist?
A: A feminist usually shows up at my speaking engagements for my book Become Your Own Matchmaker, but they don't get it. If they're living in short hair, in a boy's body, and they wear jeans and a leather jacket—they cover up all the assets. The wiring hasn't changed. I didn't create the product, I'm just the distributor.
Q: So you are just reflecting what your clients are looking for?
A: Feminists are dumb. I'll tell you why. I'm not a fan of the Gloria Steinem mentality. Only when it comes to work: Equal pay for equal time. But when it comes to love, I want my car door open, I want him to be attentive to me. When I'm attended to, that is when I feel relaxed and safe and protected, and that's when I spread.
Q: What are the top three things that guys do wrong on dates?
A: Say they're going to call and don't call. No. 2, they wait too long to call. No. 3, they say lies. They tell you all the good stuff but they forget to tell you . . . "Oh, I came from a very wealthy family" . . . but I'm unemployed. "I went to college" . . . yeah, for a year.
Q: Any advice for guys on Valentine's Day?
A: If you downplay Valentine's Day in the beginning of a relationship, you will be labeled as non-marriage material, and she is not going to put you on the forefront. The worst thing you can do is give a girl a card without a flower. So cheap. It says you're cheap.
Q: Are there going to be any follow-up episodes where we can check in on last season's matches?
A: Yes, you are going to see at least six or seven guys from last season. In [tonight's premiere] you are going to see Paul, the guy who got engaged.
Q: You have talked about your boyfriend on the show, but we want to know: Have you successfully procured a millionaire yourself?
A: He's an MIT, which is a millionaire in training. Vanessa Rothschild
