For our final menswear report from Sergei Sviatchenko, the Danish artist-stylist-photographer is signing off with a world premiere video in support of the collaboration between his experimental men's fashion magazine, Close Up and Private, and Premium by Jack & Jones (a European-only line similar to TopMan).
Out this summer, the $500 limited-edition capsule collection, the Rock Rebel Classic and Contemporary Kit, is a readymade "rocker" wardrobe and tongue-in-cheek riff on the rock-rebel cliché itself. Instead of a white T-shirt, jeans, and leather jacket, Sergei's rocker look of choice hails from the mid-60s British Invasion-era. The kit includes "a tab collar shirt in understated Tattersall check; ribbed socks; wool, navy blue trousers (cuffed and slim-fitting); a green, full-knit cardigan; a one-inch d-ring leather belt; a square-end, loose knit tie in navy blue, and a British Military inspired repp tie."
Directed by award-winning filmmaker, Noriko Okaku, the video features Sergei's renowned photography and collage, more of which can be seen in his other videos. We recommend "Trust the Classics," which is peppered with "etiquette for the modern classicist" like "Owning at least three Oxford shirts has never done a many any harm," and "Khaki chino trousers are as essential as they are basic. Choose your pair meticulously."
