Photographic Evidence That All Men Are Currently Wearing the Same Shirt

We're glad someone is keeping an eye on this.

Men are creatures of habit, and menswear tends to move at a snail's pace. So it shouldn't be that much of a surprise to find an Instagram account that posts nothing but guys wearing a very specific blue-and-white gingham shirt from J.Crew. And yet here we are, flabbergasted, looking at exactly that.

The account, @thatjcrewginghamshirt, has been posting clandestinely taken shots of men in New York City since Aug. 2. There are a few screen grabs from TV and film thrown in just for good measure—and presumably to not make it not seem so Manhattan-centric. The subjects vary in age, race, body type, and setting, but they're all wearing this shirt—or something very, very similar.

From a capital-F fashion standpoint, gingham is a little basic. Don't get us wrong: it's a great pattern that works for a variety of men, and pairing blue and white is about as classic as a color combination gets. But if literally everyone and his brother is wearing this fabric at this very moment, don't we have to acknowledge the possibility that it's reached the height of its popularity? Has the time come to #StopGingham?

Take a look at a sampling of the account's posts, below, while you ponder that very important question.
