Rick Owens Rethinks the Old-School, All-American High-Top

Quality leather is hard to come by, particularly when you want it in the form of a Chuck Taylor-style basketball sneaker. But as anyone who knows his work would expect, Rick Owens delivers. Like many of his leather creations, Owens' new Geobasket sneakers take a familiar item and turn it into something artful with a series of unexpected touches.

Wrapped like a package in jet-black Italian leather, these kicks feature flashy side zippers, protruding leather uppers, upward-curving toes, and thick white soles with a serrated-ridge-like pattern instead of the traditional waffle bottom. So creative and versatile is the design that we're already expecting to see shelves full of mass-manufactured knockoffs in a season or two. Even though they hover near $1,000, we advise you to spring for the real deal.
