The Master of Wearable Sculpture Comes to New York

For nearly 20 years, Nick Cave—the American sculptor/performance artist, not the Aussie rocker/writer—has been crafting vibrant "soundsuits" from flea-market finds (sequins, hair, feathers, an abacus). With a pair of concurrent solo shows, "For Now" and "Ever-After," Cave, who sometimes dances wearing the suits, is arranging his creations into circuslike vignettes, bringing them to otherworldly life.

*"For Now", September 10 to October 22 at Mary Boone Gallery, 541 W. 24th Street, www.maryboonegallery.com

"Ever-After", September 8 to October 8 at Jack Shainman Gallery, www.jackshainman.com
