Unless you live under a rock, you probably know that on Saturday, November 20, the much hyped, highly coveted Lanvin for H&M collection goes on sale. (For those outside North America, you'll have to wait until the 23rd to get your floppy bow tie on.) More likely than not, you'll have to stand on line—a very, very long one. But trust us, it'll be worth it. The quality of the pieces, like a raw-edged tuxedo jacket and wool drawstring pants, are close to top line Lanvin, while the prices are far from it. Details caught up with Lanvin's menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver to get the inside scoop on what he'll be vying for come Saturday (yep, not even the designer gets to shop early). Plus, his tips on getting as well as you give this holiday season.
Lucas Ossendrijver's Picks From the H&M Collection:
Sky Blue Checked Shirt with Micro Pleating
"It's a mix between a tuxedo shirt and a normal button-down. You can wear it anywhere—to the office or out at night. It's quintessential Lanvin in that it combines different items with different functions into one thing."
Wool Drawstring Sweatpants
"These are my knit jogging pants, but when worn with a tailored jacket, they're quite smart, but still casual and easy."
Dark Bronze Patent Leather Shoes
"Again, it's that idea that you can wear these shoes with a suit or with jeans and they look good, but also different. They're quite versatile and really good value for money."
Beige Trench Coat
"We developed the fabric just for H&M—it's a micro-waffle design, and really beautiful."
Lucas Ossendrijver's Holiday Tips:
The Gift to Get
"My ideal gift would be time, but since you can't buy that, I would love to get cooking pans from Le Creuset, so I can organize more dinners with my friends."
The Gift To Give
"I love candles from Cires de Trudon because the scents are subtle, not overwhelming. And they always remind you of something from the past."
The Holiday Relief
"My favorite drink is a Lychee Martini—strong but still kind of sweet. I just had the best one at Mr. Chow in New York City."
The Holiday Escape
"The Labriz on Silhouette Island in the Seychelles is really paradise. You're on an island, cut off from the world and can't do anything. You're sort of obliged to just go the beach, sit by the pool, and read."
