After scooping up Woolmark's first regional menswear prize for the United States this week, the designers of Public School announced the 10 design operations vying to take their spot as the new CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner. Of the cohort, only three design for the guys: clothiers Simon Miller and Orley, and sunglasses brand Grey Ant. The full ten now start a process that includes collection reviews, studio visits and a design challenge all taped-for-television. The victor and two runners-up will be named on November 3. (CFDA)
"If you don't like cookies, you might not have a soul." So says Band of Outsiders creative director Scott Sternberg. The designer will be indulging customers who have a sweet tooth at the New York flagship store he's opening this fall with a cookie window that will sell pastries from Momofuku Milk Bar. "We want our store to be about more than just an awesome shop where you can buy great clothes," he added. "We want it to be an awesome shop where you can buy great cookies, too." (LA Times)
Umit Benan's designs are about to get a little more accessible. For Spring 2015, the designer will debut a secondary collection called Oniki in partnership with the Japanese brand Tomorrowland. While you probably can't expect the same price range as Alexander Wang for H&M, you can expect stuff that will put you in the sights of street style photographers everywhere. (Four Pins)
Next spring will also bring us the debut of Cole Haan's partnership with designer Todd Snyder. The first collection will include a total of eight styles, but by fall the selection will grow to 15. (WWD)
Cristiano Ronaldo is adding a range of shirts to his underwear line, CR7, that he makes in collaboration with Richard Chai. While there aren't too many details, we do know that there will be both casual and formal selections. Here's to the next David Beckham. (FashionBeans)
