The Watch: 1960s Breitling Navitimer

The Details: "I went to Wanna Buy a Watch in Los Angeles with a short list of watches to check out, one of which would be a birthday gift to myself. The minute I saw the Breitling, that list became irrelevant. I had never seen a Navitimer, but the chronograph dials, the crystal logarithm rotating bezel, the 'AOPA' logo...It's classic and rugged without being too much of either—my aesthetic mantra in watch form."
